Ruan Kruger is a distinguished Full Professor of Physiology and Sub-theme Lead for Epidemiology and Preventive Science at the North-West University, Faculty of Health Sciences and the Hypertension in Africa Research Team (HART), a Centre of Excellence. Prof. Kruger is recognised for his national and international excellence in hypertension. He is affiliated with the South African Medical Research Council’s Extramural Research Unit in Hypertension and Cardiovascular Disease and holds fellowship status within the International Society of Hypertension (ISHF), and is the current President of the Childhood Hypertension Consortium of South Africa (CHCSA). His research is focuses on early onset hypertension and cardiovascular disease development in young populations, and has resulted in over 110 publications in accredited journals since 2011.
