BIOGRAPHY

Mark Mitsnefes, MD, MS is pediatric nephrologist at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and Professor of Pediatrics and Program Director of Clinical Translational Research Center at University of Cincinnati. Dr. Mitsnefes is an established clinical investigator with expertise in understanding the development of risk factors for cardiovascular disease in children with hypertension and chronic kidney disease (CKD). He has maintained continuous funding at the federal level since 2001. Since 2003, he has been co-chair of cardiovascular committee for the CKiD study, NIH-funded multicenter study of children with CKD. He also has been a co-investigator and training Director of American Heart Association SHIP AHOY grant, multicenter study to redefine the thresholds for diagnosis of childhood hypertension and better define the clinical phenotype of BP associated target organ damage. He has published more than 200 articles and 30 chapters on cardiovascular health in children and adolescents with CKD and primary hypertension.
