BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Rahul Chanchlani is a pediatric nephrologist, clinician-researcher, and epidemiologist at McMaster University, Canada, where he serves as an Associate Professor in Pediatrics and a staff nephrologist at McMaster Children’s Hospital. He is cross-appointed as a Scientist at ICES and the Population Health Research Institute.
Dr. Chanchlani’s research centers on childhood hypertension, a critical and modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular and kidney disease. His work explores its epidemiology and risk factors, including acute kidney injury, obesity, and lifestyle, to develop innovative tools for early detection, monitoring, and intervention. By leveraging advanced methodologies such as big data research and bioinformatics, Dr. Chanchlani addresses critical gaps in pediatric hypertension care, producing evidence to shape clinical practice and public health strategies. His impactful research has attracted over $6.5 million in funding and resulted in more than 100 peer-reviewed publications.
Dr. Chanchlani is a dedicated mentor, training the next generation of pediatric nephrologists while fostering global collaborations in hypertension research. His leadership and innovation have earned him prestigious awards, including the International Pediatric Nephrology Association’s Renee Habib Young Investigator Award and McMaster’s Faculty Mentor Award.
